Your house — your self — was on fire. The place where you live, where your identity is stored, where your life is structured — all of it in flames.

A house fire is transformation of identity. Not gradual evolution — rapid, visible, destructive transformation. Something about who you are is being consumed so thoroughly that what remains will be unrecognizable.

If you escaped, you will survive the transformation. You will lose the old structure — the old identity, the old life — but YOU will make it out. What you rebuild will be different from what burned.

If you were trapped inside, the transformation has trapped you. You cannot exit the situation that is changing you. You must go through it — through the heat, the smoke, the destruction — because there is no door out.

If you watched from outside, you have distance. The old identity is burning but you are already standing in the new one. The fire is finishing what you already started.

If you tried to put out the fire, you are resisting the transformation. Some part of you wants to save the old structure. But your unconscious set the fire for a reason — the old house needed to burn.

If you saved something from the fire, that object represents what you carry into the next version of yourself. The one thing from the old life that survives the transformation. Hold onto it. Everything else was fuel.
