๐Dream About a Flood
The water was rising. Not rain from above โ water from below, from the sides, from everywhere. It kept coming. Past the street. Past the doors. Past every barrier you had.
A flood is the ultimate symbol of emotional overwhelm. Where rain is emotions falling on you, a flood is emotions RISING around you. The containment has failed. Whatever was holding your feelings in check โ boundaries, routines, willpower โ has been breached.
If the water was clean and clear, the emotions flooding you are pure. Grief, love, relief โ overwhelming but not toxic. Sometimes you need to be flooded to be cleansed.
If the water was muddy or dark, the emotions are contaminated. Old resentment mixed with fresh grief. Anger muddied with guilt. The flood carries everything โ including things that have been rotting underground for years.
If you were swimming, you are actively navigating the overwhelm. Not drowning โ swimming. There is a difference. You are in the flood but you are moving through it.
If you were on higher ground watching the flood, you have perspective. The emotions are vast but you have found elevation. You can see the full scope of the situation without being consumed by it.
If the water was receding, the worst has passed. The flood reached its peak and is now draining. What remains is damaged but the active crisis is ending. Recovery can begin.
A flood does not ask permission. It comes. Your unconscious is showing you that some emotions are bigger than your ability to contain them โ and that is not failure. That is being human.
