Black is the color of the unknown. When your unconscious makes a spider black, it is amplifying the hidden nature of whatever the spider represents.

A black spider is a shadow creature in the Jungian sense — something that operates in the dark parts of your psyche or your life. This could be a person who works behind the scenes to manipulate. It could be your own behavior that you refuse to examine. It could be an emotion — anger, jealousy, resentment — that you have pushed into the dark because you do not want to look at it.

If you were fascinated by it — drawn to the black spider instead of repulsed — the shadow aspect carries something you need. Not everything hidden is harmful. Some of your greatest power lives in the parts of yourself you have refused to claim.
